They aren't great but they are not frozen. The valves have the pearl inserts on top and they work. I am not sure why there is a black ring around the bell. The inner tubing is pretty good with only a couple of dents. As you can see by the pictures there are several dents. I also do not see a serial number or ID# anywhere. I hope I have not ruined the patena some people like. I would call this an alto horn.I have cleaned the brass, with some brass cleaner, around the stamps so I could take better pictures of it and read what it said. The pineapple on the horn has the last two numbers of the year that this horn was made - 1913. ![]() ![]() It stands about 20 3/8" tall with the body about 8 1/2" wide.From what I could find out, from my research on the internet, the Couesnon Company was started in 1822 outside of Paris. Vintage Couesnon 8c Cie Alto Horn made in ParisUp for auction is this unique brass instrument by Couesnon manufactured for the Friedrich Music House in Grand Rapids Michigan.
